Brahmaputra Upstream | Guwahati To Neamati (Jorhat)
The 7-night MV Mahabaahu Brahmaputra River Cruise offers an extraordinary journey through Assam’s scenic and cultural heart. Beginning in Guwahati with a visit to Kamakhya Temple, the voyage sails past lush islands and vibrant villages, featuring visits to jute mills, tea estates, weaving communities, and the tribal Mishing village. Guests experience thrilling elephant and jeep safaris in Kaziranga National Park, explore the Majuli Island monasteries, and visit the Ahom monuments in Sivasagar. With yoga sessions, Assamese cuisine, cultural performances, and a home-hosted lunch at a tea estate, this cruise beautifully combines nature, wildlife, heritage, and authentic Assamese hospitality.
Arrive at Guwahati Airport by 1100 hrs, where our representatives receive you for a drive to the sacred Kamakhya Temple, dedicated to the Goddess of Desire. After this spiritual visit, continue to the MV Mahabaahu cruise vessel.
A warm welcome awaits as you are escorted to your cabin, followed by lunch on board. We soon sail past the Saraighat Bridge, the narrowest stretch of the mighty Brahmaputra River, and glide by Peacock Island, surrounded by Guwahati’s picturesque hills.
Spend the afternoon settling in, and in the evening, gather on the Sun Deck for a sundowner toast to the Brahmaputra, keeping an eye out for playful Gangetic Dolphins.
Later, attend a safety briefing and an orientation on ship facilities over refreshing Assam tea. The evening continues in the lounge with drinks, followed by a Chef’s Welcome Dinner in the ship’s restaurant, Mungri Mungram.
After dinner, guests may relax in the lounge or retire to their cabins.

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast (0800–1000 hrs), followed by an informative talk on Kamakhya Temple and an orientation for the Bangla Village visit.
We go ashore to interact with villagers living simple yet fulfilling lives on fertile sandbars of the Brahmaputra. Dependent on the river for farming and fishing, they rebuild their homes each year after the monsoon floods — a remarkable display of resilience and harmony with nature.
Return to the ship for lunch and leisure time — unwind with a book, enjoy the steam, sauna, Jacuzzi, or indulge in an Ayurvedic massage. You may also take a dip in the swimming pool or relax on the Sun Deck watching the river’s ever-changing moods.
Evening brings tea and pakoras accompanied by a talk on Assam’s geography, tribal life, and its key industries of tea, silk, and jute.

Explore this rich ecosystem teeming with one-horned rhinoceros, wild buffalo, elephants, swamp deer, and numerous bird species.

Return for lunch as we sail upstream towards Majuli. Witness devotional Gayan-Bayan performances by monks, traditional Dashavatar dance by young girls, and dramatic episodes from the Ramayana performed with expressive masks.
Return to the ship for lunch and sail to Neamati Ghat. In the afternoon, either embark on an excursion to Sivasagar, the ancient Ahom capital with its historic temples and monuments, or enjoy a nature walk along the bund near Neamati to observe birdlife and rural life.
