Brahmaputra Upstream + Downstream | Guwahati To Guwahati
The Assam Despatch 7: Brahmaputra Taster is a compact 3-night, 4-day round-trip cruise from Guwahati aboard the ABN Charaidew II, designed to give travelers a rich yet concise introduction to Assam’s cultural and natural highlights. Beginning with a visit to Sualkuchi Silk Village, guests witness the intricate process of producing Assam’s famed Muga silk, from cocoon to hand-woven mekhela chadars. The journey continues with a sightseeing tour of Guwahati, including the revered Kamakhya Temple atop Nilachal Hill, the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery, and local craft shops, offering both spiritual and cultural insights. Cruising further upstream, the itinerary features a day trip to Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, celebrated for its exceptionally high density of one-horned rhinoceroses, where a jeep safari provides excellent opportunities for close wildlife encounters. Alongside these excursions, the cruise offers time to absorb the scenic river landscapes, explore riverside villages, and enjoy the serene rhythm of life along the Brahmaputra. Perfect for those seeking a shorter river journey, this program combines Assam’s heritage, wildlife, and local traditions into a rewarding and memorable taster experience.
